From Penwith to Bude: How Local SEO Differs Across the County
6 October 2026 · Lee Searle, Penzance
Cornwall isn't one market. What works for a St Ives café won't work for a Launceston builder — here's how to tune your site for your patch.
Cornwall is long and thin, and people search differently from one end to the other. Treating it as one big area is a missed opportunity.
West Cornwall: tourists and locals
In Penzance, St Ives and Marazion, a lot of searches come from visitors on their phones. Opening hours, maps, menus and "near me" phrases matter most.
Mid Cornwall: busy trade towns
Truro, Falmouth, Camborne and Redruth have strong local competition. Specific service pages — "boiler servicing Truro", not just "plumbing" — help you stand out.
North coast: seasonal swings
Newquay, Wadebridge and Bude swing hard between summer and winter. Keep your site updated for the season so Google and customers know you're open.
East Cornwall: crossing the Tamar
Liskeard, Saltash and Launceston pull customers from Plymouth and Devon too. Mention the areas you'll travel to, either side of the border.
One rule everywhere
Name your towns naturally, give your main ones their own page, and collect reviews that mention where the job was. That's local SEO in a nutshell.
